Participates in Panel Discussion on “FinTech: From 3.0 to 4.0” at 2023 Innovation and Technology Conference

[2023.09.21] At the 2023 Innovation and Technology Conference, William Lam, Founder and CEO of iFinGate, was invited to join a panel discussion on the topic “FinTech: From 3.0 to 4.0.” The forum was chaired by Mr. Chan Man Lee, Chairman of the Hong Kong FinTech Association, and featured speeches from government officials and industry leaders.

During the session, Mr. Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong SAR Government, emphasised FinTech as a key focus area for Hong Kong’s development.

William stressed the importance of sound legal frameworks to regulate innovation in FinTech, reducing risks for consumers and investors. William highlighted the industry’s transition from FinTech 3.0 to 4.0, centred on data and intelligence, and the need to embrace new challenges to transform the financial ecosystem.

At the meantime, Mr. Yan Diyu, Director of FinTech at Cyberport, highlighted how FinTech is disrupting traditional finance and driving cross-industry innovation. Keynote speakers included Mr. Pan Rui, President of WeLab China, and Ms. Chen Wanzhen, Executive Vice President of Ant Group, who spoke on digital banking and digital trust respectively.

The panel brought together prominent FinTech leaders to explore future directions, injecting fresh momentum into Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area’s financial innovation landscape.
